The evolution of renewable energy is a driver for power delivery infrastructure combined with communication and information technologies. All with the aim to deliver electricity with more efficiency. Fiberoptic sensors are traditionally applied in this field due to their immunity to electromagnetic interference. Brillouin sensing can be applied for temperature monitoring of power lines and generators in order to provide information on their structural health based on the thermal profile over their lifetime.
